Council Tax

Pay by direct debit and you could win tickets for a Dudley day out. If you live in Dudley borough and pay council tax or housing rent by direct debit, you could now win tickets for local attractions in Dudley Council’s monthly draw. From July 2008 to December 2008, the draw offers tickets for 125 lucky direct debit payers each month. There will be 6 monthly draws and anyone paying their council tax or housing property rent by direct debit will be automatically entered into this. Winners will be chosen at random by computer.

If you pay both housing rent and council tax by direct debit, you will have two entries into the monthly draw. Anyone wanting to start paying these bills by direct debit should call 01384 818000 for council tax or 01384 818283 for housing rent and you’ll be entered into the next draw after your first payment is made by direct debit.

If you’re already paying by direct debit, you don’t need to do anything, your details will be entered into the draw.

If for any reason you’re already paying these bills by direct debit but don’t want to be entered into the draw call 01384 818000 and say that you wish to be excluded. You can also enter the draw for any month just by sending your name and address to Marketing Communications, Council House, Priory Rd, Dudley DY1 1HF. Only one entry per stamped envelope will be accepted. All entries must be received by the 10th of the month to be entered.

Direct Debit

The safe, quick and easy way to pay, with a full guarantee against errors. Compared to other payment methods, monthly direct debiting offers you the following advantages:

  • Saves You Time - No more queuing to pay, no more cheques to write!
  • Saves You Money - No more stamps to buy or envelopes to find!
  • Lower Administration Costs - Help to keep the council tax as low as possible by reducing handling costs.
  • Gives You Peace Of Mind - Your bank/building society makes sure your bill is paid on time.
  • Payment For Someone Else - e.g. an elderly relative.
  • Full Guarantee Against Errors - See the Direct Debit Guarantee.

Setting up a direct debit to pay your council tax in monthly instalments is simple, call (01384) 818000 to sign up over the phone, or just complete and return a direct debit instruction. To obtain an instruction form:

  • There should be one at the bottom of your last bill.
  • Complete our online form to instruct your bank or building society to pay by direct debit

You will be notified of the amounts to be debited at least 14 days before the first payment date. If you have any queries about the direct debit scheme, please telephone 01384 818000, email our Billing Section or visit the Direct Debit website.
