Make a Claim

There are three ways to claim Housing and/or Council Tax Benefit:

  • Together with a claim for Pension Credit

  • Together with a claim for Income Support, Jobseekers Allowance or Employment and Support Allowance

  • Direct to your local Council. You can apply in any of the following ways:

If you are not eligible for Council Tax Benefit you may still be able to claim Second Adult Rebate

Online Benefit Application

Apply for Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Benefit online

It is a quicker, easier and more convenient way to claim benefit.

Please note: If you are helping someone else to apply they must be with you at the time the application is made.

Over the telephone with one of our Benefits Advisors

If you would like to apply over the telephone, please call Benefits Services on 0300 555 8100. A member of staff will book an appointment for you and advise you what information to have available during the interview. 

A benefits advisor will telephone you to complete an application form at the time agreed and you will be told what information (proof) will be required in support of your claim. Please note these calls take approximately 40 minutes.

The proof requested during the telephone interview must be:

With an advisor (in person) at one of our Offices

When this form is received you should complete and return it with any supporting information to:
