Crisis Support Team

In the aftermath of any major incident, there is an enormous amount of distress, not only for the immediate victims and their family and friends, but also for the wider community.

The aim of the Crisis Support Team (CST) is to provide a local response to minimise the social and psychological consequences of major incidents through:

  • Practical and emotional support in the immediate aftermath to those affected by a major incident

  • Crisis support for the families of those missing or killed by a major incident, in partnership with Police Family Liaison Officers

  • Providing advice and information about longer-term care.

Dudley Council has a team of volunteers trained to give support to the community following these traumatic incidents. They can be mobilised by the Contingency and Disaster Management Team to events which affect the community within Dudley. These can be local incidents or International Incidents which impact on families within Dudley and who may need support following such disasters.
