Recovery following Major Incidents

After the emergency services have left the scene of a major incident the local authority will take on the lead role in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the community.

The physical rebuilding, restoring and rehabilitating of amenities, buildings and normal services needs to be managed effectively with due consideration to the wishes of the local communities. In order to ensure this the council has plans in place to ensure that control of the restoration and recovery phase is handled in the most efficient way and involves all partner agencies.

In this way and this way only can transformation and revitalisation of the effected area be accomplished. The area can be regenerated both visually and socially.

The council plans identify those areas of recovery and sets up groups to ensure that the correct people are involved and the opinions of those concerned sought.

In order to ensure that all possible areas of damage are considered a number of bespoke topic sheets have been drawn up.
