For jewellery designer Lora Leedham a simple phone call to Dudley Council's Business Support team led to appointments with Vogue magazine and contact with royalty.
Lora contacted the Business Support team earlier this year with her dream of starting a business designing and making her own jewellery. Within a matter of months her work was being showcased in boutiques and galleries all over the country.
When Lora, aged 20, approached the Council, we realised the best route for her business was through The Prince’s Trust so we put her in touch with the trust and Lora’s dream was turned into reality.
Lora said: “I’m set up in business now thanks to the help of the council and the direction offered by The Prince’s Trust. I have completed a necklace for Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall and personally delivered it to St James Palace. Camilla wore it for the celebratory event for the 30th anniversary of The Prince’s Trust. On the same day I had an appointment with the editor of Vogue who have agreed to feature my jewellery.
“With the right help and support you really can make your dreams come true.”
Tony Mitton, Programme Manager for The Prince’s Trust Central Team, added: “Lora is an excellent example of the talent we have here in the borough. She made one call and began to turn her pipedream into a career”
”We want to hear from more people like Lora who have the same ambition and passion, there must be many, it’s just a matter of finding them.”
