Changes to Contractor & Design Consultant Pre-qualification Requirements

Contractor & Design Consultant Pre-Qualification Requirements

Changes came into operation in April 2010 within Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council where Contractor and Consultant selection is assisted by the use of Constructionline. This is a pre-qualification assessment scheme.

Many organisations such as ours have now adopted Constructionline following Government initiatives on the removal of duplication within the Construction industry for pre-qualification checks.

It is also a requirement within Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council for all our contractors working direct for this Authority to be members of CHAS, which is the Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme.

Any new Contractor or Consultant therefore, now wishing to be included on our select lists may do so for the foreseeable future by expressing an interest on-line to pam.bonnick@dudley.gov.uk

Within your email you are required to BRIEFLY confirm the following:

  • Firstly, make a statement that you are expressing an interest in being included on our select lists as either a Contractor or Consultant.

  • Secondly, state your company name, brief nature of business and categories of work you wish to be considered, along with your business address, contact name and phone number.

  • Should you already be a member of Constructionline you are requested to state your registration number.

  • For those Contractors who may already be members of CHAS, please state your unique reference number.

NOTE:

For clarity, if your company supplies materials only, then you will not be able to join our standing lists. These lists are for bona-fide construction (supply and fix) companies only along with design consultants linked to the Construction industry.

Insurances:

All contractors working for the Council will be required to hold and maintain a minimum of £5m Public and Employers liability insurances. Design consultants are to note that the appropriate level of professional indemnity insurance will be determined on a project-by-project basis.

Follow up actions:

Once you have made an application on-line, then appropriate information will be sent to you by return giving you further instructions or confirmation of your inclusion on our select lists. Should you have already applied, please do not use this service as a means of confirmation of successful application. Should this be required then please discuss with Pam Bonnick on 01384 814002. No verbal applications for inclusion on our lists will be accepted.
