Review of Premises Licence under the Licensing Act 2003

Any person or business may make representations on premises licence applications or variations; premises licence reviews; representations in relation to club premises certificates; and reviews of club premises certificates.

Guidance issued under Section 182 to the Licensing Act 2003. Paragraph 11.10 for assistance states:

It is important to recognise that the promotion of the licensing objectives relies heavily on a partnership between licence holders, authorised persons, responsible authorities and any other persons in pursuit of common aims. Where authorised persons and responsible authorities have concerns about problems identified at premises, it is good practice for them to give licence holder’s early warning of their concerns and the need for improvement and where possible they should advise the licence holder of the steps they need to take to address those concerns. A failure by the holder to respond to such warnings is expected to lead to a decision to apply for a review. Co-operation at a local level in promoting the licensing objectives should be encouraged and reviews should not be used to undermine this co-operation.

Representations may be made in support or objecting to a licence review. You have 28 days to make your representations following the application for the review being accepted by the licensing authority.

Representations can be submitted online, by email or in writing to us. Verbal representations will not be accepted. Contact Details can be found below. If a representation, is considered by the licensing authority to be frivolous or vexatious, then the objection will not be considered. There is no right of appeal.
