The Gambling Act has been in force since 1st September 2007, this page contains background information and details of the Statement of Licensing Principals which sets out the policies and principals that Dudley MBC will apply when carrying out its licensing functions under the Gambling Act. Transitional Arrangements - Premises Licences
Within the Gambling Act 2005 there is provision for existing commercial operators of adult gaming centres, betting, casinos, family entertainment centres, to benefit from special provisions intended to ensure that they can continue to operate without interruption during the Transitional period. To qualify for continuation rights these operators must make advance applications to their Licensing Authority for their premises licence between 21st May 2007 - 30th July 2007.

This is the date from which Licensing Authorities will accept advance applications for Premises Licences under the Gambling Act 2005. Premises Licence Application forms can be downloaded from the Dept for Media Culture and Sport Website or, in Dudley, operators can contact their local licensing office.See below for contact details. The office is open between 9:00am and 5:00pm Monday to Friday. If you wish to discuss your application please ring the office to make an appointment.
30th July 2007
Last date for acceptance by Licensing Authorities of Premises Licence advance applications from existing operators. Or applications from New operators under the existing legislation. Applications received after this date will not receive continuation rights.
31st August 2007
Transitional period ends
1st September 2007
The Gambling Act 2005 comes into force.

Gambling Act 2005 - Dudley Draft Policy
Thank you to everyone who replied to Janet Elliott by 26th September 2006 with their comments on the Gambling Act 2005, Dudley Draft Policy.
The Licensing and Safety Committee considered all representations in their meeting of meeting of 19th October 2006 before recommending approval of the Gambling Act 2005, Statement of Principals to the full Council. General information about all council meetings is available to the Public and can be viewed on the Committee Information webpages.
The Gambling Act Policy Statement of Principals was approved at a meeting of the full Council of Dudley MBC on 4th December 2006, published on the 3rd January 2007 and came into effect on the 31st January 2007.
Further revisions to the Policy have been made following consultation since this, as part of the Policy Review process and the latest document is available for viewing at the Licensing Office or can be downloaded from the Gambling Licensing page.
