Submission of DBS Reports in relation to current Drivers
Please note that the Taxis Committee, in consultation with the Taxi Focus Group, agreed at their meeting on 20th October 2010 changes in relation to the submission of DBS reports by current drivers to be implemented 1st December 2010. Guide to Drivers
This booklet, which is available to download from the Hackney and Private Hire web page, or from the address in the contact details box below, has been produced to give owners and drivers of private hire vehicles guidance and help when making applications for licences and in the day-to-day use of such vehicles.
Fees (April 2016 - March 2017)
The fee for:-
a new Hackney Carriage Driver Licence is £306.51 (or £484.96 for a three year Badge), which, for either a one year or three year Badge, includes Disability Awareness Course (£27.58), Police Check (£60.18) and Badge (£10.75)
The fee for the renewal of a Hackney Carriage Driver Licence is £122.16 (or £303.46 for a three year Badge) plus, for either a one year or three year Badge, £27.58 for the Disability Awareness Course if not paid for previously
Fees for Joint Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver Licence
The fee for:-
a new Joint Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver Licence is £373.56 (or for a three year Badge is £658.38, which, for either a one year or three year Badge, includes Disability Awareness Course (£27.58), Police Check (£60.18) and Badge (£25.06)
the fee for the renewal of a Joint Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver Licence is £168.53 for a one year Badge (or £462.68 for a 3 year Badge), plus £27.58 (for either a one year or three year Badge) for the Disability Awareness Course if not paid for previously.
In addition there is a fee for the DVLA Mandate yearly of £5.69
We accept cash, debit / credit cards. Please note there is a charge of 1.2% for credit card payments.
As of the 1st January 2017 the policy on Medical Certificates will change.
Applicants will be required to undertake a medical examination when they apply for their first licence.
All drivers aged between 19 and 45 will then be exempt from repeat medicals unless their medical condition changes and they are required to inform both DVLA and the Licensing Authority.
At age 45 a further examination should be undertaken then;
Every three years up to the age of 65.
Once the age of 65 is reached a medical examination will be undertaken every year.
(PLEASE NOTE: IF THE MEDICAL PRACTITIONER HIGHLIGHTS ANY CONCERNS THE MATTER WILL BE REFERED TO THE HEAD OF SERVICE WHO WILL DETERMINE THE REQUIRED FREQUENCY OF YOUR MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS.)
