This booklet, which is available to download from the Hackney and Private Hire web page, or from the address in the Contact Details box below, has been produced to give owners and drivers of private hire vehicles guidance and help when making applications for licences and in the day-to-day use of such vehicles.
Special Event Vehicles
Special Event Vehicles are licensed under the same principle as a Private Hire Vehicle but as the name suggests, the vehicles are only to be used in the event of a Special Occasion booking and not as a standard pre-booked private hire agreement.
There is a Special Event Vehicle guide available for download at the foot of this page. This booklet has been produced to give owners and drivers of special event vehicles guidance and help when making applications for licences and in the day-to-day use of such vehicles.
Fees (April 2012 - March 2013)
Vehicles up to 6 years old
The fee for a new or renewal Private Hire Vehicle Licence is £221.87
Vehicles 6 - 8 years old
The fee for a new or renewal Private Hire Vehicle Licences is £221.87 for the first 6 months and £147.44 for the next 6 months.
Vehicles over 8 years old
The fee for a new or renewal Private Hire Vehicle Licences is £221.87 for the first 4 months, £147.44 for the next 4 months and £147.44 for the next 4 months.
Plate Fee (April 11 - March 12)
If a new Plate is required, irrespective of age of vehicle, this is an additional £38.61
