The Council works with a number of different funding agencies in an attempt to bring public and Private Sector investment into the Borough to help develop its regeneration projects.
Public Sector money can come from a variety of sources. Generally however they come from either Europe, through the European Regional Development Fund or the European Social Fund or from various Government Departments.
The Council also works with the Private Sector in an attempt to “Match” Public Sector money to develop larger, more strategic, projects to benefit the borough further. This Private Sector funding could be from property developers and private companies.
Further information on how this money is accessed and spent can be found in this section of our website however if you have any further questions please contact our us.
European Funding
Many people ask what does being part of Europe mean to me ?
Well, in fact quite a bit.
The Council accesses money from Europe for a number of regeneration and physical infrastructure improvements. I'm sure many of you until recently cursed when stuck in queues approaching the Merry Hill down Pedmore Road. You may not be aware that money to improve the road junction and install the traffic management systems came, in part, from European funds through the European Regional Development Fund, ERDF for short.
You will see the ERDF logo on signs in and around the improvement and on other projects funded in conjunction with ERDF all around the Borough.
We also access money from the European Social Fund (ESF) to provide training opportunities to those out of work, those in work and looking to develop their capabilities and to provide opportunities to school leavers and young people in the construction Industry.
If you have attended any of these courses or programmes you may recognise the ESF logo on some of the documentation.

Other External Funding
The Council works closely with other grant awarding bodies to secure funding to promote economic regeneration across the borough.
