Gornal Wood Crematorium Memorials

We know that close relatives and friends derive comfort when they are allowed to commemorate their loved ones with a tangible memorial. Some people feel that a particular type of memorial would be appropriate and we therefore offer a choice of memorials.

Whilst we have attempted to provide quite detailed information on this website, please do not hesitate to contact the crematorium office if you require further guidance or advice on any of the commemorative schemes

Memorial Trees

The memorial trees are pre-planted within the Seasonal Gardens of the Crematorium.

The engraved plaque is available in either a silver colour with black writing or black with gold colour writing. A small motif of a flower or tree can be chosen to complement the inscription.

Bronze Memorial Wall Plaques

Cast bronze wall plaques are an established form of memorial displayed at Gornal Wood. Individual plaques are placed one above another and it is possible to purchase multiple plaques to form a linked inscription. They are fixed to walls in the flower room, chapel exit corridor and the Book of Remembrance room.

Family Columbarium Niches

The family columbarium is a contemporary memorial made of high quality materials of black granite and stainless steel, providing a dignified resting place for up to five sets of cremated remains. The niche will provide a focal point for families to remember those who have passed away and it has a small flower holder incorporated for a floral tribute. The family columbarium lease is for a period of 10 years.

Book of Remembrance at Gornal Wood

The beautiful book is made and inscribed by craftsmen and provides a permanent record. The Remembrance book is displayed in the Remembrance hall, which is situated at the rear of the chapel. It contains a page for each day of the year and the inscription usually appears on the date of death, or any other anniversary.

Memorial Seats

The provision of a seat as a memorial provides a tribute to a loved one which is also a benefit to the community in which they lived. Such a memorial will last for the 'life' of the seat. The high quality hardwood seat is supplied with a bronze plaque and the right to affix a plaque on a memorial seat is for lease period of 10 years.

Rose Bushes and Rose Trees

A beautiful way to remember a loved one is to have a rose tree or rose bush in their memory. A wide variety are available at Gornal Wood Crematorium where a number of areas have been set aside to be planted with the shrubs and rose bushes.

Granite Wall Plaques

Gornal Wood Crematorium provides a lasting, commemorative tribute to loved ones at the Crematoria in the form of engraved granite memorial plaques. The memorial plaques of polished granite are fixed to walls adjacent to the chapel and the floral tribute area.
