Marriages

Introduction

This acts as a guide to the facilities and choices available to you and, later, to the legal formalities which are necessary to enable a couple to marry anywhere in England or Wales.

Within the Dudley Metropolitan Borough we can offer you the service of two very different offices, Dudley Register Office or Stourbridge Registration Office.

Information is also available from the register office about the approved premises within our Borough which are licensed for marriages.

Dudley council is committed to providing an excellent standard of service and customer care. We pride ourselves on our choice of venues and a high degree of expertise from the staff in the Register Office.  We want to ensure that your wedding is both a joyful and memorable experience.

In Dudley Registration District, marriage ceremonies are performed by appointment. The staff at both offices can offer you various enhancements to your ceremony.

Out of respect for all parties who use our marriage suite facilities, guests are asked not to smoke anywhere in the Register Office, and to wait until they are outside the building before throwing confetti or rice.

Both the Dudley and Stourbridge offices will accept a provisional booking up to 12 months in advance of your wedding.

Notices of Marriage are currently £30 for each person. However, on or after 6th April they will be £33.50.

Statutory fee for marriage in Register Office is £40.

Save the date for your big day

Couples looking to the knot in Dudley will be able to take advantage of a new save the date service being introduced in the New Year.

From January 1, couples wishing to marry or register a civil partnership in Dudley borough will be able to pencil in their date up to two years in advance of their ceremony date.

The save the date service will allow couples to book a registrar for their ceremony or reserve their chosen date and time at the popular Priory Hall.

Bookings can currently be made within one year of any ceremony but the new service, which costs just £50, will allow people to book things up two years before their big day.

To make a booking with the save the date service people should contact the register office in Dudley by calling 01384 815373 or by emailing marriage.enquiry@dudley.gov.uk.
