Dudley Council is seeking funding to redevelop the historic market place in Dudley town centre.
This significant part of the town has been in existence for hundreds of years and boasts many customers. The council recognises its importance and is keen to sympathetically restore it along with other special features.
This public consultation, by working with market traders, businesses, shoppers and residents, aims to gather the thoughts of those who use the town on a regular basis, to help the council ensure that the new market place is fit for purpose while recreating the history that Dudley is renowned for and proud of.
It is hoped that not only will the new market layout create a renewed vigour for the town, by attracting more market traders and shoppers, but it will also help to bring about new investment.
With this in mind the council has carefully come up with three separate options for the market place:
It is important to note that the three options are not fixed or definitive and the final design could be different or could incorporate elements to create a fourth option.
The market place proposals can be viewed in marquees that will be positioned in front of the fountain on:
Wednesday 23 - Saturday 26 March 10am to 3pm
Wednesday 13 - Saturday 16 April 10am to 3pm
Saturday 23 April 10am to 3pm
(location may change due to St George’s Day event, which is taking place in the town on the same day)
The displays will be staffed during these times for traders, businesses, residents and shoppers, to come along and ask questions.
