Pensnett

Pensnett, mentioned in the Doomsday book, grew as a typical mining village, surrounded by various iron works. Pensnett is a small local shopping centre on the junction of three main roads and consequently suffers from heavy traffic flows throughout the day causing continual congestion.

Pensnett has been identified as a priority local centre for regeneration and contacts have been made with local businesses and residents and initial dialogue has begun about the issues and needs within the local centre. Work on the Pensnett Regeneration Plan began in 2008.

A survey of all the 17 local and district centres takes place on an annual basis in order to measure the performance of each centre over time and is also used to compare areas and set priorities. The statistics collected include number of vacant units in the centre, number of vacant units in the areas that fall under the protected retail frontage and diversity of uses in the centre.
