Connection of Highway Power Supply

If you have booked an entertainment square in the borough and you require a connection to a highway power supply in the entertainment square you must complete an application form and return it along with an appropriate test certificate, completed by an NICEIC contractor, for the electrical equipment to be used.
 
This is to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Health & Safety Executive and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
 
Please note that the above must be produced no less than 14 days before the event.
 
Guidance Notes
The use of Temporary Power Supplies on the Highway must comply with the BS 7671 requirements for electrical installations and should be periodically inspected and electrically tested by a qualified electrician every 6 months.
 
The supply cables must be of a flexible type and doouble insulated, if cables are crossing the highway where pedestrians are expected to walk the cable must be protected by a rubber ramp or mat.
 
It is the intention to supply the cable over-head via a catenary wire the height of 2.5m should be allowed for pedestrians, however if vehicles are intended to cross the area a height of 5.7m is required.
