Information for Electors Local Elections in Dudley Metropolitan Borough will take place on Thursday 1st May 2008. The Notice of Election was published on Thursday 27th March 2008. Prospective candidates have up until noon on Friday 4th April to hand in nominations, details of candidates standing for election will be posted on this page after that time. Elections are scheduled to take place in all 24 wards of Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council on Thursday 1st May 2008. If you are a British, Commonwealth or European Union Citizen you are entitled to vote at these elections as long as your name is correctly included on the Register of Electors. To check your registration please contact Electoral Services on 01384 814741. The deadline for registration to enable you to be able to vote on 1st May is Wednesday 16th April 2008, if you have moved since September 2007 you may not be registered for your current address, please download an application form and completed forms should be returned to Electoral Services, Kudos House, 3 Ednam Road, Dudley, West Midlands, DY1 1HL. Poll Cards will be issued to all electors by Thursday 10th April 2008, giving details of polling station locations. The hours of poll will be from 7:00 am until 10:00 pm. Poll cards will also be issued to all postal voters, if you have previously applied to vote by post or proxy and now find that you are able to get to the polling station, the postal/proxy vote can be cancelled, this must be done in writing before 5:00 pm on Wednesday 16th April 2008. If you cannot get to the polling station on election day you can apply for an absent vote This means you can apply to vote by post with completed applications must be returned to Electoral Services, Kudos House, 3 Ednam Road, Dudley, West Midlands, DY1 1HL by no later than 5:00pm on Wednesday 16th April 2008. Postal Ballot Packs will be issued during the week prior to the election. If you are going to be away at that time you may wish to appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf (link to proxy application here please use attached pdf for this purpose) closing date for receipt of completed proxy appointment forms is 5:00 pm on Wednesday 23rd April, 2008.
