Performance Matters in Dudley

Dudley Council is constantly striving to improve the way that we deliver our services to meet the needs of local people, and to ensure that we can measure and demonstrate our achievements.  We are committed to managing our performance in line with the challenges outlined in the Community Strategy and the aims of the Council Vision.

Performance Management is important to Dudley MBC for a number of reasons:

  • It helps us to achieve the goals of the organisation and the community
  • It helps us ensure satisfaction for users and communities
  • It enables us to prioritise tasks and resources
  • It helps us to ensure Dudley Council provides value for money

Performance Management information also enables the authority to compare performance with other metropolitan borough councils and authorities who represent the best in terms of performance and service provision.  This highlights areas for our own improvement and provides examples of ‘best practice'.

Every year we produce a summary of our performance in delivering services to the residents of Dudley.

This site provides information on the key activities relating to the management and reporting of our performance

  • The Best Value Performance Plan presents a statement of our service performance levels and targets together with audited figures for previous years which can be compared directly against the the performance of other local authorities.
  • The Comprehensive Performance Assessment is undertaken approximately every three years and provides a judgement of the overall standard of performance of Dudley Council as a whole.
  • Dudley Trends provides statistical information about the borough, interpreting raw data to provide information and intelligence which in turn can inform management decisions - for example with regard to identifying areas of greatest need for a particular type of service.
  • The Performance Pact provides a useful summary of all of the performance indicators that are collected across the authority as a whole, together with an overview of the corporate and directorate priorities for the year.
  • Performance Reports are prepared quarterly for the council's elected members and senior managers.  The reports provide a detailed analysis of performance against a number of key targets that contribute directly to achieving the council vision.
  • The Annual Review of Equality and Diversity provides a summary of the Council's performance in implementing its Equality and Diversity Policy and includes progress against equality performance indicators and employment monitoring data (see Related Documents below).
  • The Council's Corporate Policy and Research Team is responsible for co-ordinating the council's performance management.
