How every pound is spent

Pound Spent Receipt 2010

Where does each pound go?
Dudley’s council tax is one of the lowest in the country. As well as keeping the rate low, the council is good at collecting tax and collects 98 per cent within the first year.

Where our money comes from...
Council tax is only one source of the money that Dudley Council gets – last year it was only 15 per cent of the council’s total income. Other funding comes from government grants, business rates, rents for council dwellings as well as charging fees for services.
How the money is spent
We spend your money on things to help us provide services over the short and longer term. In the last year we spent almost £80 million on capital projects that would last more than a year.

These include spending money on new children’s centres across the borough, highways schemes such as the Brierley Hill Sustainable Access Network and a major revamp of the council’s leisure centres. We also spent more than £750 million on running day-today services in the borough including rubbish collections, social care, education and all of our other services.
