Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council has previously set up a Standards Committee under the legal requirements of the Local Government Act 2000. The Localism Act 2011, which became law in December last year, is making significant changes to the system, including the abolition of the legal requirement to have a Standards Committee.
The Council will shortly be adopting a new local Members' Code of Conduct and this will involve changes to the process for making complaints against Councillors and Co-opted Members. There will be new rules on Members declaring and registering interests which are currently subject to detailed rules and regulations yet to be issued by the Government.
In the interim period, if you have any questions concerning the procedures for making Complaints against Councillors and Co-opted Members, please contact the Council's Monitoring Officer, Philip Tart on 01384 815300 or e-mail philip.tart@dudley.gov.uk
