Credit referencing agencies use the register when assessing credit worthiness.
People who are not on the register often experience difficulties opening bank accounts, getting credit, a loan or a mortgage

When should I register ?

Each year during August-November the Electoral Registration Officer carries out an annual canvass, sending a registration form to all properties within the Borough. Please select the annual canvass link for more information. The registration form should be completed and sent back using one of the four options detailed on the front of the form. You are not automatically registered even if you pay council tax

If you move at any time throughout the year you can register for your new address, an application form can be found from our Download Forms page. Simply print off the form, fill it in and return it,

Who should register?
You are entitled to register if you are:
A UK resident and 16 or 17 years old and,
either a British, Irish, Commonwealth or European Union Citizen
You can only apply for registration at your current home. You can apply at your temporary home if you currently have no other home. There are exceptions (e.g. students). If you have any questions regarding your residency, please contact us via one of the methods detailed on our welcome page.

A new version of the register is published on the 1st December each year following the annual canvass.

Anyone can inspect the full version of the register at Dudley Council Plus, 259 Castle Street, Dudley, DY1 1LQ. The centre is open on weekdays during the hours of 8:00am-6:00pm and on Saturdays 9:00am-12 noon.

Changed your name ?
If your name has changed since publication of the register on 1st December you can apply to have your details amended, please use the Alteration of Entry application form which can be found on our Download Forms page, simply print off the form and send back to:
