How every pound is spent

Where does your money go till receipt

Where does each pound go?

Dudley’s council tax is one of the lowest in the country. As well as keeping the rate low, the council is good at collecting tax and collects98 per cent within the first year.

Where our money comes from...

Council tax is only one source of the money that Dudley Council gets – last year it was only 13% of the council’s total income. Other funding comes from government grants, business rates, rents for council dwellings as well as charging fees for services.

How the money is spent

We spend your money on things to help us provide services over the short and longer term. In the last year we spent over £90 million on capital projects that would last more than a year.

These include spending money on new children’s centres across the borough, highway schemes such as the structural maintenance of roads and bridges and also street lighting improvements.

Excluding technical accounting adjustments we also spent more than £809 million on running day-today services in the borough including rubbish collections, social care, education and all of our other services.
