National minimum wage

From 1st October 2010, new rates and entitlements are being introduced to the National Minimum Wage.
 
The new rates will be:
Age Range

16-17 years old
£3.64
18-20 years old
£4.92
21 years and over
£5.93
 
Apprentices who were previously exempt from the National Minimum Wage will now be entitled to a minimum of £2.50 per hour. This applies to apprentices who are under 19 years of age and apprentices who are over 19 but in the first year of their apprenticeship.
 
Workers who are aged 21 and over will be entitled to the main National Minimum Wage can make a complaint by phoning the Pay and work Rights helpline on 0800 917 2368.
