Early years development advisers

Birth to Three development advisers

Our objectives:

To ensure that all early education settings are able to access the support of a qualified early years professional from the team:

  • to support the raising of standards in teaching and learning within all early years education provision in the borough by offering advice and guidance
  • to work closely with other providers and agencies, as appropriate to promote an effective partnership approach to provision of early years and childcare services

These experienced early years practitioners support maintained and non-maintained settings, including childminders who are registered to receive Nursery Education Grant.
In the pursuit of quality provision for children and families within Dudley, the team is able to offer assistance with the following:

  • planning and preparation of an early learning programme which promotes progression towards the early learning goals and meets Ofsted requirements
  • practical support and discussion about ways of implementing the planned learning activities and identifying ways of using resources effectively
  • guidance about ways to monitor and assess children’s progress effectively
  • assistance with identifying appropriate staff development and training which will support the early learning programme
  • guidance about managing diversity and meeting the individual needs of children
  • support in preparing for Ofsted inspection.
  • guidance when writing and implementing an effective action plan after an Ofsted inspection
  • guidance for practitioners to evaluate the quality of the practice within their setting, linking with quality assurance
