Extra time for threes and fours

3s and 4s clock logo

From September 2010 all three year olds are entitled to a free, good quality early years place from the term after their third birthday.  This place runs for two years until they reach compulsory school age, and it can be taken flexibly if the setting can accommodate it. Settings can be in the maintained sector, or in the private or voluntary sector - as long as they are registered to deliver the free entitlement. Settings can include day nurseries, pre-schools or childminders.

The early learning entitlement is often referred to as Nursery Education Funding, and in Dudley, we are calling it "Extra time for threes and fours".

When a child at your setting reaches the age at which they can claim the free place, there are a number of procedures for you to follow.

Please download the documents at the bottom of this page to help you out with the process.
