The Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) scheme is now closed to new applicants
The Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) scheme closed to new applicants from 1 January 2011.
The deadline for receipt of applications by the Learner Support Service was 31 December 2010. All applications received on or after 1 January 2011 will not be processed.
Young people who are already in receipt of EMA, or who are assessed as eligible and receive a Notice of Entitlement, will continue to receive it for the rest of this academic year (2010/11), if they fulfil the terms of their EMA Agreement. However, they will not receive it next academic year (2011/12), as the scheme will be closed.
