DPA Summer Event 2011:
1st, 2nd & 3rd July at Dudley Concert Hall & area
Friday 1st July: Rock the Castle 4pm - 10pm
35 local rock bands will play in this youth rock concert inside Dudley Concert Hall (DCH). The event will take place on 3 different stages - two inside DCH main hall and one in the banqueting suite (upper level). This event will be staged in 2 halves and wrist bands will be on sale on the day for access to the venue. An alcohol free bar will be available inside DCH during this event.
*NB The Dudley Concert Hall upper levels are only accessible by stair-well.
Saturday 2nd July: Dance and Drama Day 12 noon to 6pm
DPA, school and community groups will perform on 3 different staged areas throughout this day. Dance and DJ performances will take place inside DCH and on an outdoor stage in the adjacent car park. Drama performances will be programmed inside Dudley Museum and Art Gallery. The bar inside DCH will be open throughout this event for refreshments. Wrist bands which allow access to all performance areas will be on sale on the day.
Sunday 3rd July: DPA Music Day 12 noon to 6pm
A variety of DPA groups will perform on our outdoor stage throughout the day, whilst there will be 3 gala concerts inside DCH: 12noon to 1.30pm / 2.30pm to 3.30pm and 4.30pm to 6pm. Tickets will be available for each gala concert and will include access to the car park stage. The DCH bar will be open throughout this event for refreshments.

"We hear a lot about how young people are causing trouble these days... What we don't hear about are the countless youngsters who don't fit into this group. Recently, at Himley, the DPA Summer Festival was a perfect example of how young people can be creative, productive and entertaining. Hundreds of them, from all over Dudley, displayed their talents in singing, dancing and playing in bands and orchestras. They had given up many hours of their time to rehearse and, over the weekend, braved the weather to attend. They were marvellous."

"The DPA Summer Festival was absolutely first class. The new venue at Himley Hall is proving absolutely superb, with security while allowing space for freedom. The atmosphere was excellent, and the breadth of activity across the weekend - both arts-related and 'fun' - was brilliant. And the attendance was huge whenever I was there. The weather was kind, as well!"
