Instrumental & Vocal Tuition in Schools
Over 4000 students in Dudley schools and colleges receive weekly instrumental & vocal tuition with Dudley Performing Arts.
Lessons are given by DPA’s specialist music staff. Students are normally taught for 30 lessons a year at their school during the school day. Lessons for new students will be in groups of up to 4 students. Where a DPA teacher judges that a student would benefit from an individual lesson, parents will be invited to apply for a Scholarship Lesson.

Live Arts Opportunities
Dudley Performing Arts' Live Arts projects and presentations are designed around Key Stages in the school and support the development of pupils by approaching education through the arts.
The presentations and projects range between 1 hour and all day participatory experiences for children of all ages, using either one or all the art forms (music, dance, drama and visual art & design). They are also used for inspiration in the community, tackling all issues that affect us today such as social cohesion, bullying and health.

Performance Opportunities: Ensemble Systems
DPA encourages all instrumental & vocal students, regardless of age or ability, to become involved in an ensemble as soon as possible.
Your child will be able to start in one of the junior groups, located fairly close to where you live. Centrally organised groups commence at Intermediate level, after which students will pass to the Senior and Advanced Music Schools. Instrumental/Vocal teachers will guide students to the appropriate group.
- Membership to the ensemble system is FREE!
- Entry to the junior group is open access. Progression to the higher levels is by audition, which takes place at the end of the academic year.
- Each ensemble/choir will take part in at least one concert per term:
- The Spring Term features our Spring Festival showcasing the various departments that make up DPA.
- All groups get to perform at Himley Hall in the Summer Term as part of DPA's annual summer celebration.
- At Christmas most of our groups will perform in the first week of December as part of DPA's Winter Season.
- Ensembles playing in public:
- At home... Dudley's music ensembles have performed in many parts of the country. As well as regularly playing in the Black Country, they have visited York, Winchester, performing at the Symphony Hall and Ronnie Scotts in Birmingham, and at The Royal Albert Hall and The Festival Hall in London.
- and abroad...DPA has a network of international partners with whom there are regular exchanges. Dudley students have undertaken international tours to Europe, North America and Australia.
