Learning in the local community has changed the lives of many adults across the borough - you could be one of them!

The Adult and Community Learning Team at Dudley Council have a range of learning opportunities to help you.

You could improve your reading, writing and maths, learn how to use a computer, speak a new language, gain a qualification or learn new skills to help you get into work.

Courses are held across the borough in neighbourhood learning centres, libraries, schools and other community venues during the day, evening or weekend.

Arts Factor 2012

This year’s theme is Ancient Greece

Our showcase performance evening is on Friday 6 July at Netherton Arts Centre.  

We will also have exhibition space at the centre during July as well as other venues including the Savoy in Netherton and the Dudley Museum and Art Gallery.

Ofsted - good news for adult learners

Ofsted has rated adult learning services in Dudley as good following the latest inspection in March. Inspectors identified a range of good practice and praised the good progress made by adult learners.

Andrea Pope-Smith, Director of Adult, Community and Housing Services, said, “I am delighted that the inspectors recognised the good progress we have made since our last inspection to improve the quality of teaching and learning. The inspectors praised the excellent strategic management and leadership of the service in Dudley and highlighted the exceptionally strong partnerships developed to benefit local learners”.

New courses starting in April

The Summer term starts in April with new courses starting at venues across the borough including Neighbourhood Learning Centres, libraries, community centres, schools and colleges.

Artspace

Artspace at the Savoy in Netherton offers a variety of workshops in arts and crafts. Recent workshops include jewellery making, canal art, textiles, water colours, computer art, photography and a workshop in alternative guitar tunings.

Artspace is now holding an arts and crafts exhibition of work by adult learners in the former Aart premises in Market Street, Stourbridge.
