All pupils will start school in September, there is no longer two intakes.
2. When can my child first start school?
The law says that all children must start full-time education by the beginning of the term after their fifth birthday. All schools in the Borough admit pupils to Reception Class earlier than this and if you do not wish your child to start full-time education until after their fifth birthday you should contact the headteacher to discuss the implications of taking this decision.
3. When should I apply for a reception class place for my child?
It is important that you apply for a school place no later than the 16th January 2012. You can apply online here or can request an application form from the school admissions service. The Headteacher will tell you about the opportunities to visit the school. You must read the "Parents Guide to Primary School Admissions" booklet which is available on-line (see "related documents") or from the Admissions Service at the Children's Services Directorate 01384 814223 before you express a preference for a school.
4. Can I register my child at two different schools?
You should only complete one application form for admission to a primary school. This form will enable you to indicate 5 preferences. Local Authorities (LAs) are required to co-ordinate primary admission for all maintained (non fee paying) schools.
Birmingham, Dudley, Sandwell, Staffordshire, Wolverhampton, Worcestershire (LAs) and Education Walsall have agreed to co-ordinate applications for their schools.
What are the main changes for Parents? You must now apply to your home authority for all schools you wish to express as a preference, regardless of the schools location.
5. Will my child automatically transfer from nursery into primary school?
No, this is not the case, parents must complete an application form and no priority in the admissions process will be given to children attending nursery schools associated with primary schools.

You will be able to obtain an individual school prospectus, which includes detailed information about the school and its policies. Other documents, which are available, include the last inspection report by the Office for Standards in Education (OFSTED).

Parents will be informed of the decision relating to their application in writing, posted 2nd class on 16th April 2012.

12. I am moving into the area and need a primary school place for my child, can you tell me what the procedure is?
