Dudley’s Governance training service was established in 1988 in order to provide training for governors in a role rapidly acquiring responsibilities arriving with the delegation of budgets to individual governing bodies. We are proud of the flexibility of our service and of the quality and extent of the service we provide, recently commended by Ofsted.
Training and guidance have rarely been more important for governors and governing bodies than at present. The role of the governing body has become more tightly defined, with its focus on promoting high standards, and on its roles: strategic, accountability and as a critical friend.
Many of the most useful sessions are customised sessions to meet the needs of the individual governing body. Shared priorities and experience enable the most to be made of this. All governing bodies purchasing the training service are entitled to one whole governing body session per year.
An adjacent school clustering is a way of sharing sessions and establishing a termly pattern.
