Dudley Education Business Partnership is seeking Volunteers to expand the Student Mentoring Programme currently running in a number of local secondary schools.
Mentors visit 14-15 year old students during school hours to support those capable of gaining GCSE grades at A*-C, but are currently under-achieving. The aim is to provide a non-judgemental, listening ear and the benefit of life experience.
You would not be expected to do the student’s homework for them!
A free training programme and ongoing support is available to all mentors.
‘A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove….but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child.’ Anonymous
Every child has the Right to Read but not every child has the opportunity. Our goal is to raise the region’s standards of literacy to exceed national levels through a programme of one to one reading support, delivered by trained volunteers from participating businesses.
What is Right to Read?
Right to Read is a campaign to promote the importance of literacy and seeks to engage volunteers from business to become reading partners with 7-11 year old, primary school children.
