Building Schools for the Future plans submitted in Dudley

Dudley Council today submitted plans to attract £300million worth of funding to revolutionise borough schools.

The Building Schools for the Future ‘readiness to deliver’ submission to the government forms part of the council’s Vision 2025.

It sets out how the council aims to deliver ambitious plans over the next 20 years to transform education and provide inspirational learning environments.

The document also sets out how Dudley plans to create world-class facilities fit for 21st century learning with the biggest ever investment in the borough’s school.

The main aims of the council’s exciting proposals are to transform secondary education and secure outstanding educational outcomes for all children and young people. BSF investment will provide state-of-the-art, inspirational learning facilities, at the heart of their communities.

Councillor Liz Walker, cabinet member for children’s services, said:

“We are already very proud of what our pupils achieve. BSF is not just a building programme. The investment aims to create learning environments which inspire all young people to unlock hidden talents and reach their full potential, provide teachers with 21st century work places and provide access to facilities which can be used by all members of the local community.”

“The first phase of four phases will see five of our secondary schools receiving up to £80m of investment but all of our secondary schools are set to benefit from the Building Schools for the Future programme, the biggest ever capital investment in schools in our borough.”

The five schools included in phase one will be Castle High, Holly Hall Maths & Computing College, The Wordsley School, Coseley School & Sports College and Pedmore Technology College and Community School.
