Universal Area Based Youth Work

Universal area based youth work is delivered in five area based teams within the borough and managed by an area team leader.  Each area has a combination of types of youth work, including:

Youth Centres

Purpose built centres running weekly programmes for local young people.

Detached

Youth workers make contact with young people in venues such as parks, street corners and shopping centres.

Part-time clubs

Open once or twice a week.  These clubs usually take place in a shared building such as a school or a community centre.

Work in schools

We run a wide range of alternative curriculum projects within schools.

Partnership work

Youth workers will also work in partnership with other agencies to deliver programmes for local young people.
