UKYP
United Kingdom Youth Parliament
The UK Youth Parliament (UKYP) enables young people to use their energy and passion to change the world for the better. Run by young people for young people, UKYP provides opportunities for 11 - 18 year olds to use their voice in creative ways to bring about social change.
There are currently over 500 elected MYP's (Members of Youth Parliament) and Deputy MYP's who represent both young men and women, including young people from a variety of ethnic backgrounds, and with physical and learning disabilities.
Dudley has four seats on the UKYP - two for MYP's and two for deputies. Elections are held annually through secondary and special schools and colleges. Elected young people attend local meetings, 6 regional meetings a year and an annual sitting. They represent the views of young people from Dudley, have the opportunity to meet with Government Ministers, and take part in regional and national events to lobby and campaign for change.
All young people aged 11-18 living in Dudley borough have the right to stand for election to the UKYP and to vote for their representatives.
