Targeted Youth Work

The role of Dudley Youth Service is to work in collaboration with other agencies enhancing existing services and developing new initiatives for vulnerable young people.

Priority groups are:

  • Looked After Children
  • Disabled young people
  • Teenage Parents
  • Young people identified at being most at risk of offending or re offending
  • Young people not in Employment, Education or Training (NEET)

 

Staff within the Targeted Team will deliver and also support their colleagues in the Universal Team in delivering against the priorities as appropriate.   

Looked After Children (LAC)

  • To run 1 exclusive youth work session for LAC 13 to 19 age range.

  • To develop and maintain partnership work with the authorities Children’s homes, 16+ drop in and Dudley Carers.

  • To support individual LAC (13-19) that wish to access and participate in any aspect of the Youth Service.

  • To develop holiday activity programmes

Disabled Young People

  • To support the 5 Universal Teams in the development and delivery of their offers to disabled young people.

  • To develop and maintain partnership work with the borough’s special schools and extended schools.

  • To support Universal projects to achieve Me2 status.

Teenage Parents

  • To develop and deliver SRE workshops for young people.

  • To support condom distribution and Chlamydia testing points across the borough. 

Young people identified at being most at risk of offending or re offending

  • To work with youth offending service and other partners to develop project work to support the prevention and diversion of young people from crime
