Planning Services

 
Probably the most familiar aspect of the planning service relates to the processing of planning applications and in Dudley this work is handled by the Development Control team. We are concerned with providing for new development in a sustainable way whilst protecting and conserving the natural and built environment of the Borough. We aim to provide an efficient system which considers all aspects of an application before making a fair and democratic decision.
 
The statutory element of the service involves;
 
 
The service also has statutory responsibilities in respect of Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas and provides a wide range of advice and guidance on planning, development and other environmental matters.
 
A framework for development is set out in Government guidance on the Communities and Local Government website, in more detail in Regional planning guidance and at local level in the Dudley Unitary Development Plan (UDP). Planning applications are considered against this framework, in particular the Unitary Development Plan (UDP) for the area, but also against any other material planning consideration.

Further information on planning applications, including advice on whether you require planning permission and submitting your application, including online submission, is available using the options to the left or why not contact us to discuss your requirements. 
 
Our Development Control reception area is located at 3 St James’s Road, Dudley. If you wish to submit a planning application, inspect the register of new planning applications, apply to carry out works to protected trees, or report a suspected breach of planning control the reception is open daily from 8.45 am to 5.00 pm. Outside these hours why not use our online planning search
 
A duty-planning officer is available each day between the hours of 9.00am to 5.00pm to discuss planning issues and offer informal advice. Alternatively if you wish to discuss a particular planning application, please use the contact details below to arrange an appointment with the planning officer dealing with the application .

Planning Aid provide free, independent and professional advice on planning issues to people and communities who cannot afford to hire a planning consultant
