The Council has prepared a consultation draft of the Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) for the Historic Environment. The SPD is being prepared as part of the Council’s Local Development Framework. The purpose of the SPD is to support the historic environment policies in the adopted Unitary Development Plan (UDP), and explain how they should be addressed in the development control process. The SPD will be a material consideration when determining planning applications.
Part of the SPD process is public consultation which is carried out to allow local people and interested groups to be involved in the development of policy guidance. A consultation draft of the Historic Environment SPD was available for a period of six weeks from 20th February to 31st March 2006. The consultation period for this document is now closed.
The SPDs are accompanied by a Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) explaining the consultation process and a Sustainability Appraisal (SA) which examines impact on social, economic and environmental conditions in the Borough.
Following the consultation period, representations will be reviewed and the draft SPDs amended. The final SPDs will be submitted to Cabinet for approval in summer 2006. A statement of the consultation responses received and how they have been taken into account in finalising the documents will be published with the SPDs.
