Reasons for the Policy

The various components of the Council’s Countryside Strategy set out in detail the Council’s aims for these areas and where appropriate provide a vital context for development proposals. Several, high profile, nationally, regionally and locally promoted leisure routes and walks occur within the Borough’s Green Belt and through the Linear Open Spaces. It is important that these are not prejudiced by development or inappropriate land uses.
