Block 14 - Enville Street
This area is the old western gateway to the Town now severed by the ring road with its northern frontage blighted by a road improvement line. This is a mixed use area, still retaining some of its old established retail uses. The frontage to Scott Road has a number of community uses including Beauty Bank School, and the Robin Woods Centre which serve the local residential community west of Stourbridge.
It is proposed to overcome the blight of the improvement line by constructing a new link road to the ring road as shown on the Proposals Map. This will create a narrow opportunity site (Site G) immediately fronting Enville Street.
Preferred retail uses should be limited to small shops of a scale and nature that reflect the character of Enville Street. Being outside of the main centre and retail core, units over 2500m2 are considered inappropriate.
Enville Street Opportunity Site
The current street has back of pavement properties and redevelopment should reflect that feeling with the possibility of rear parking and servicing in courtyards. It is a main gateway to the Town and frontage treatment should be complementary to the existing buildings.
