Green Steps Campaign

Green Steps is a new two year media based environmental campaign involving the Black Country Authorities of Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton Councils. In partnership with the Environment Agency, Severn Trent Water, IKEA, the Energy Efficiency Advice Centre, Express & Star and Radio BBC WM. The campaign aims to raise awareness of environmental issues including energy efficiency, composting, food & shopping and travel, as well as encourage people to take simple actions to reduce their impact on the environment.
Halesowen Greenlink Project
Community project to co-ordinate and implement the policies and proposals in the countryside areas of Halesowen.
Groundwork Black Country Projects
Sponsored by the four Black Country authorities and the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions this organisation encourages schools, local authorities, private industry, businesses and voluntary groups to work together to improve their local environment.
Dudley Countryside Management Project
This is a part funded project by the Countryside Commission which are to enhance the landscape and nature conservation value of the countryside and access into the countryside by working with private landowners and local community groups.
Black Country Forging/Foundry Project
A Research and Development project in partnership with unions and Black Country forging and foundry industries to consider practical methods of noise reduction within existing plant and buildings.
Community Development and Local Agenda 21 at Wrens Nest Estate
A grant aided partnership scheme which demonstrates how the Local Agenda 21 process can be applied within a housing estate. Projects have included community recycling, traffic calming and employment training which demonstrate the linkages between economic, social and environmental issues.
Green Futures Network
This group comprises representatives from construction, industry, education and the community working together to develop sustainable housing development using environmentally friendly building products. Links with local businesses are looking to develop more energy efficient methods and job creation.
Travelwise CampaignA travel awareness campaign in partnership with neighbouring authorities and CENTRO. Initiatives undertaken include a walk to school week and road safety schemes with local schools.
Recycling FurnitureSt. Thomas's network is a voluntary organisation working with the local community and the Council to clear furniture from vacant properties to sell on to unemployed people.
Environmental Improvements at Silver End Industrial EstateA groundwork Black Country scheme in partnership with local industries and Dudley Council. The physical improvements (security, landscaping, traffic management and energy conservation) promote confidence in the area and improve well being of employees thus contributing to the economic viability of the area.
Black Country Business Environment AssociationBy offering environmental reviews for businesses, the association aims to facilitate the introduction of cost saving measures which also improve environmental performance.
