Strategic Environmental Partnership

A new environmental partnership that includes representatives from the business and voluntary sectors, a housing association, the Fire Service, wildlife, biodiversity and conservation groups, the Health Care Trust, Groundwork Trust, community associations and relevant council employees has been established in Dudley.

The Strategic Environmental Partnership (SEP) is linked to the Dudley Community Partnership, the body that has overall responsibility for delivering Dudley Borough's Community Plan.

The SEP has agreed to focus on three main priorities:

  • To develop exemplar environmental projects on recycling and energy efficiency within the Borough.
  • To support the LA21 working groups ('Biodiversity' and 'Energy, Waste & Pollution' groups), which are working on actions set out in the LA21 Action Plan.
  • To review and develop effective environmental indicators to measure progress over time; for example to increase the amount of household waste being recycled and to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from houses and council buildings.

Overall, the partnership will be responsible for steering the direction of work on environmental and sustainable development issues within the Borough of Dudley, progressing issues that matter most to local people and encouraging residents to work with the partnership towards a clean, brighter environment.
