An angling permit system regulates the fishing at Fens Pools. The site is primarily a nature reserve, however, angling is well established and is a highly valued informal activity. The three large pools and adjoining canal have excellent fish stocks, including some very large pike and carp.
Close Season
A close season operates from the 15th March to the 15th June each year and fishing is not permitted during that period.
Angling Permits
There are two types of angling permit:

Standard

Concessionary - applicants must show that they are unwaged, e.g college identity card, pension book, UB40.

Persons under sixteen do not require a permit.

Car Parks
There are two car parks which give reasonable access to Fens Pools:

A public car park of Chapel Street, Pensnett

Car park adjoining the Wardens’ Office at the junction of Pensnett Road and Bryce Road.
