The historic environment is all around us and forms the physical backdrop to our everyday lives. Dudley Borough, in particular, has a rich and diverse character which has been shaped by the activities of people of the area over a long period of time. As a result the individual townships of the Borough have their own distinctive character that make Dudley a very special place in which to live and work.
The Historic Environment Section works to conserve the locally distinctive historic character of the Borough as a whole, both within historic townships and also in the spaces between and beyond them, rather than simply focusing upon special elements or areas.
