Local Land Charge Searches

If you are a potential buyer of a property then as part of the conveyancing process, a Local Land Charge Search against that property is conducted to uncover any restrictions or legal obligations on the building(s) or plot of land.

Conservation Areas

There are 22 Conservation Areas in Dudley Borough. Some are canal centred, some are set around open space or canals and others around local shopping or residential centres.

Drainage and sewerage

The Council provides advice on drainage and sewerage issues as part of its Public Health Duty. Private Drainage including Cesspits and Septic Tanks are the responsibility of the owners or occupiers it serves. For tenanted properties this responsibility lies with the Landlord.

Geo-technical Services

The Geotechnical section are responsible for the investigation and assessment of the condition of near surface soils and abandoned mine workings and there impact on potential development. They also provide engineering input on Council remediation of former industrial derelict and contaminated land including soil strength improvement, soil decontamination works and mine shaft stabilisation. 

General geotechnical advice is provided to the private sector on Planning and Building control issues.

Street Naming and Numbering

The Council is responsible for the Naming and Numbering  of new streets, and the changing/reallocation of individual property addresses.

Archaeology

Dudley’s archaeological heritage is a vital component of the historic environment comprising many hundreds of sites, buildings and structures. A record of all Dudley’s known archaeological sites is kept on the Historic Environment Record.
