The Planning Policy Service is reponsible for preparation of the Local Development Framework (LDF), and will contribute towards the development of wider policy areas such as housing, the economy, transport and the environment.
What is the Local Development Framework (LDF)?
The Local Development Framework, or LDF, is effectively a collection of various planning policy documents which consider a wide range of important planning issues such as housing, employment, retail, the environment, and transport. The LDF will play a crucial role in prioritising and shaping development in the borough over the next 20 years.
The LDF is made up of several planning documents, known as Local Development Documents (LDDs). When adopted, the policies and guidance contained in these LDDs will play an important role in the assessment of individual planning applications within the borough of Dudley
Black Country Core Strategy
On the 3rd February 2011, the four Black Country Authorities consisting of Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council, Sandwell Council, Walsall Council and Wolverhampton City Council adopted the Black Country Core Strategy . The Core Strategy is a spatial planning document that sets out the vision, objectives and strategy for future development in the Black Country to 2026.

Supplementary Planning Documents
Additionally the Council has produced a suite of Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD) Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) notes which provide advice on how planning policies can be implemented.

The Planning Policy service work closely with other sections of the Council in developing its policies and priorities. These services include Development Management, Transport Policy, Economic Regeneration, Environment and Housing.
