Parking Standards Supplementary Planning Document 2011 Review

Statutory Consultation: 9th January - 20th February 2012

On 21st March 2007 Dudley MBC adopted its Parking Standards and Travel Plans Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) prepared as part of the Council’s Local Development Framework. The purpose of this document was to set out detailed guidance on the way the Council expect parking and travel plan policy in the Dudley Unitary Development Plan to be applied in particular circumstances or areas. The current SPD is now in need of revision and requires amending to cater for expected parking levels for residential development.

Over the past months, we have gathered evidence about car parking and car ownership across the Borough to identify the issues that this document should respond to. A series of surveys were undertaken across the Borough to help provide a more accurate picture of the existing situation and a 6-week period of ‘Frontloading Consultation’ was undertaken in the Autumn of 2010. The results of the surveys and consultation have been used to prepare a draft report which will now be placed on statutory consultation for 6 weeks from 9th January - 20th February 2012.

We are now welcoming views regarding the content of this document from anyone who has an interest in the SPD. We would invite you to consider the draft SPD which can be located on the following link or alternatively you can view a paper copy of the SPD at the Planning Offices, 3 St. James’s Road, Dudley, or at any of the main libraries across the Borough at normal office opening hours (9am – 5pm).
