Stourbridge Area Action Plan "Publication Stage" (March 2012)
The ‘Publication Stage’ document (March 2012) is a final stage of the Stourbridge Area Action Plan (AAP). Essentially, it contains a final set of policies and final set of site-specific land use development proposals the Council will support within each of the opportunity site land parcels contained inside the AAP plan boundary. This final version of the Stourbridge Area Action Plan is to be subject to a further period of public consultation prior to submission of the AAP document to the Secretary of State for independent examination. The 6-weeks public consultation stage for the Publication Stage document will run from Tuesday, 20th March 2012 to 5:00pm on Tuesday, 1st May 2012. Further details are available within the Publication Stage AAP document which is available on this web-site.
The Publication Stage AAP document (March 2012) has been shaped and adjusted as a result of three separate earlier rounds of public consultation. Notably, initial evidence gathering consultation (completed during Spring/ Summer 2008), consultation on an ‘Issues and Options’ AAP document (completed Winter 2010) and consultation on a ‘Preferred Options’ AAP document (completed Summer 2011). These earlier rounds of public consultation also included two separate face-to-face community consultation events held inside the Ryemarket Shopping Centre, Stourbridge Town Centre. A further face-to-face community consultation event to publicize the Publication Stage AAP document (March 2012) will be held inside the Ryemarket Shopping Centre on Friday, 23rd March 2012 from 11:00am to 4:00pm.
The AAP will guide new investment into Stourbridge Town Centre over the coming years up to the year 2026. It will set out where new shops, offices, pedestrian access improvements and new homes should be located. It will also set out where new community and leisure facilities and new public green spaces are needed to support that new regeneration growth. When it is adopted (adoption anticipated April 2013), the AAP will be used as a basis from which to assess planning applications coming forward inside the AAP plan boundary area.
