The existing UDP is very strong on environmental issues and has been successful in helping defend and improve our key environmental assets both built and natural, such as:

- Countryside and Open Spaces
- Sports Pitches
- Allotments
- Nature Conservation
- Canals
- Streams and Rivers
- Landscape
- Townscape
- Archaeology
- Conservation Areas & Listed Buildings
- Public Art
The Council is keen to improve on the existing environmental policies, but does not propose major changes in emphasis. The Council believes that the natural and built environment should remain a top priority and that includes protecting the Green Belt.
The Council believes that concern for the built and natural environment should remain a top priority for the new UDP. Do you feel that too much emphasis is put on environmental issues or do you support the Council's existing priorities?
The new UDP will also need to move forward and cover the wider concerns of health, pollution, sustainable development, good design and quality of life issues. These concerns must be spread throughout the new plan and are considered next.
