Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC)

Dudley Council has a Household Waste Recycling Centre situated off Birmingham Street (A458) at Stourbridge. The site is situated through a car park complex approximately 100 metres along the A458 from the Stourbridge Ring Road.

Please note that site use will be restricted to Dudley residents only who wish to dispose of their household waste.

Height Barriers

Height barriers are in operation at the Household Waste Recycling Centre. The height barrier is set at 6'-6" (1.98 metres) at the entrance to the car park complex. Any vehicles above 6ft 6" will need to make an appointment.

Please note that the use of single axle trailers (no double axle trailers) will only be allowed at this site by prior appointment as outlined below.

Opening Times

Summer: From the 1st April to the 30th September:

  • Monday - Friday: 8:00am - 8:00pm

  • Saturday & Sunday: 8:00am - 4:00pm

 

Winter: From the 1st October to the 31st March:

  • Monday - Friday: 8.00am - 6.00pm

  • Saturday & Sunday - 8.00am - 4.00pm

Closed Dates

The Site is closed on the Following days:

  • 1st January

  • 6th April (Good Friday)

  • 9th April (Easter Monday)

  • 4th June but open 5th June (Queen's Diamond Jubilee)

  • 25th December

  • 26th December

How to Make an Appointment

Appointments are available at the following times:

  • Large vehicles above 6ft 6" in height, but less than 18 feet in length: Wednesday afternoon's, between 12:00am to 19:30pm (Summer time), and between 12:00am to 17:30 (Winter time ).

  • Single axle trailers (no double axles): Appointments are restricted, 12:00am to 19:30pm on Mondays and Thursdays (summer time), and 12:00am to 17:30pm (winter time);  08:00am to 13:00pm on Tuesdays (all year).

  • Trailer access will not be allowed at other times

To arrange an appointment please contact us using the details at the bottom of the page. Appointment must be made by 16:00 on the preceding working day. Please note that the facility for appointments for single axle trailers or oversize vehicles will be available to Dudley residents only. Note also Trade, Commercial or Business waste will no longer be accepted.

Commercial (Trade) Waste

Commercial waste is not accepted at this site.

Recycling Facilities

This Site is a major Recycling Centre with facilities for recycling the following materials in addition to the deposit of general house/garden wastes:

  • Paper

  • Cardboard (please remove any Polystyrene or plastic wrapping)

  • Food & Drinks Cans

  • Plastic bottles

  • Timber (including MDF, LDF, HDF, Chipboard & Laminated Boards)

  • Green Organic garden waste (For composting)

  • Inert Waste (Bricks, concrete, rubble & soil)

  • Scrap Metal

  • Car and household batteries

  • Used engine oil

  • Cooking oil

  • Textiles

  • Shoes

  • Books

  • Fridges and freezers

  • Small electrical items (if disposing of computers please ensure that you safeguard your personal information)

  • Large electrical items (including old cookers and washing machines)

  • Fluorescent tubes & energy saving light bulbs

  • TVs and monitors

Some companies may also offer facilities to recycle Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) when you purchase a new item. This is usually done on a like for like basis, and does not require the old item to have been bought from the shop to which it is being returned.

Anchor Lane Household Waste Recycling Centre

Dudley residents living in the North of the borough are able to use the Anchor lane recycling site.

4th April to the 30th September:

  • Monday - Friday: 10.00 am - 8.00 pm

  • Saturday & Sunday 8.00 am - 4.30 pm

1st October to the 31st March:

  • Monday, Thursday and Friday: 10.00 am - 6.00 pm

  • Tuesday & Wednesday: Closed

  • Saturday & Sunday: 8.00 am - 4.30 pm

Local Recycling Locations

Dudley has about 50 publicly accessible recycling centres across the borough where you can take your recycling. Some are located at convenient street side points, others are in supermarket car parks.

Traffic Congestion
